There’s no one right way to become a model. Actually, it’s mainly all about being yourself and feeling comfortable exposing that to the world. But maybe you’ve always considered making modeling a career just never knew how to get started. Do you like visiting exotic destinations, enjoy world recognition and, of course, earning lots of money?

Like many things, modeling is extremely competitive and there are a lot of things you need to know before you get your chance to walk the catwalk. FashionTV wants YOU to be the next top model so here are some pieces of advice that will make your first steps a little bit easier.

Take care of yourself

Healthy hair and skin are must-haves in the fashion world in order to become a model. As for body figure, consider working with a specialized trainer. He will assist you in achieving a body that fits you.

Decide which kind of model you wish to become

Yes, it’s true. You can become a model even if you don’t look like Gisele Bundchen or Natasha Poly. The modeling world has room for every figure and style. If your body is full, you could become a plus-size model; if your chest is big but your hips are small, maybe modeling lingerie is the right choice for you.

Educate Yourself

In order to be a model, you don’t need a degree of any kind. However, you should educate yourself on the subject. Read articles, guides and books that will assist in improving your modeling skills and provide a better understanding on how the modeling industry really works.  These books can tell you secrets from the inside of the fashion industry.

Create A Website

Make sure your website is updated with an online portfolio of your most recent projects. Add your contact information so agents can get in touch with you if they are interested. A website is always good to have so even your fans can be updated with your recent activities.

Snapshots And Portfolio

Every model should have a portfolio that includes a profile shot, a head shot and a body shot in natural light without a lot of makeup taken by a professional photographer. It’s really important to build a portfolio to bring to interviews and to present to potential agents and agencies.

Get your own agent

Set an appointment with modeling agents and agencies. Bring along your portfolio and try to impress them! They might want to see how well you can walk or they may ask you to pose. If one agency turns you down, don’t give up! There are many leading agencies all over the world. Remember – from every “no” you receive, there’s always something you can learn. Implement everything you learn into your next modeling interview.

Interpersonal relationships

Each campaign or photo shoot lays the foundation for your next modeling project. Don’t be lazy or rude. You wouldn’t want to lose a campaign because someone refuses to work with you.

Be creative

If the designer/photographer allows it, feel free to be yourself! What do YOU want the world to see in you?

Believe in yourself

The modeling world seems very glamorous and exciting...and it is! This career is really hard but if you have the confidence and you’re really driven, you’ll have no problem in becoming a successful model.

The Fresh faces of NY Fashion Week 2012:

Don’t let the dream go, even during the hardest moments. All you have to do is wait for the right chance, and in the meantime gain as much experience as you can in order to stun the designers, the photographers and of course – the crowd.

FASHION HOT BIKINI brings you the best models quotes in 140 characters or less!

Now that the craziness of Fashion Week (month!) is over and New York, London, Milan, and Paris fashion shows are behind us for Fall 2012, models are back to doing what they do best (besides strutting their stuff on the catwalk!) Designer label print ads for the upcoming season are in full effect and models like Coco Rocha, Sigrid Agren, Anna Vyalitsyna and more are looking good in their photos.

The great thing about Twitter is, we get to go behind the scenes and hear what they're saying about the full experience. Here's what the top models are Tweeting at the top designer photoshoots and ad campaigns they're working on during and after Fashion Week.
